All jumps in Italy require medical fitness. Licensed jumpers and AFF students must obtain the ENAC Class 2 certificate from an AME physician; for tandem the rule is simpler.
AME = Aeromedical Examiner. Only ENAC-certified physicians can issue fitness certificates. Official list on the ENAC website (Aeronautical Medicine section).
Call the AME office. Waiting times vary by region (1–4 weeks). Bring ID, health card, any previous medical reports.
General physical examination, blood pressure, vision, hearing, resting ECG. For Class 2 also spirometry. Duration: ~45–60 minutes.
If fit, immediate issue of the certificate (paper + digital). In case of doubt, additional tests or specialist opinion.
Warning — expired medical = unauthorized jump
With an expired certificate the school denies manifest. No grace period: check the date and renew 30+ days in advance. Some conditions (heart, epilepsy, unstable diabetes) require additional specialist assessment.
For tandem you don't need Class 2 ENAC. Just a self-declaration of good health signed on jump day.
